In June 2017 we shared a blog post announcing the development of a Five Senses Therapeutic Garden in Rhodes NSW. The garden, an initiative of Inner West Neighbour Aid (IWNA) in partnership with the City of Canada Bay, is planned to open in early October 2018. The aim of this project is to create a community space which will engage all members of the community, and will include:

  • a sensory garden

  • a therapeutic garden with raised Vegepods for wheelchair accessibility

  • a nature play garden

  • an all-abilities playground

  • a communal outdoor kitchen

  • a workshop area, and

  • a number of community workshops and classes such as Horticultural therapy, cooking and art workshops, guest speakers, health information and more.

We are happy to have helped this wonderful project come to fruition, by providing feedback on previous design iterations, assisting with communications strategy, and preparing the case study.
