The North West Disability Service urgently needs companies and organisations to help them with upgrading their Secret Garden project. Can your organisation help?The NWDS is an innovative, person centric, not-for-profit organisation providing individualised, group-based activities for people with a disability. They are one of the largest providers of services to the disabled in Sydney and focus on assisting their clients with community engagement through their recreational and skill-development activities. Being a not-for-profit organisation, the service relies heavily on volunteers to keep costs to a minimum.One of their key sites for providing this service is The Secret Garden, housed on the grounds of the University of New South Wales Richmond Campus. Only a few short years ago, the Secret Garden had been in real danger of closing from lack of fund but the NWDS stepped in and took over the site.Fast-forward to the present day and the NDWS has secured additional land to expand their wonderful Secret Garden. Currently the garden houses a nursery and other facilities but these urgently need to be relocated on the site to allow for the development of new exciting facilities to service their community of users. The nursery is a vital part of the funding base for the NDWS who use the plant sales from the nursery to assist with the costs of running the service. This is where your company or organisation may be able to help. Relocating the nursery is a large job that needs to be completed as quickly as possible. The NDWS are hoping there are some companies that can take ownership of dismantling, moving and re-establishing elements of the existing nursery to their new home. This is your chance to make a difference in your community and give back to some of Sydney’s most deserving. The NDWS are entirely reliant on volunteer organisations with trucks, utes, trailers, horse floats, wheelbarrows and boxes, as well as the manpower to help them with this much needed project. The new garden will provide a wonderful environment for the community, featuring a therapy garden, a community garden, animal therapy, a community service for people of all levels of ability, a place to find rest, relaxation and fun.
