Orla 'The Golden Princess' Therapeutic Garden

We are pleased to announce our involvement in designing a client-centred therapeutic garden for Orla, a 6-year-old girl living with Alpha-Mannosidosis, and her family.

Orla’s mum, Felicity, provided us with reports from Orla’s health professionals and a ‘wish list’ of elements that she wanted to include in the design. These, along with a site visit and our own research, informed our recommendations for a safe, accessible space for Orla and her sister to play, learn and grow in.

In addition to providing these recommendations, we will continue to support the design process in collaboration with the garden designer, and champion the creation of this therapeutic garden through a case study. Our case study is to document the use and share the benefits of the finished product for our client Orla, and also to increase awareness of the challenges of living with Alpha-Mannosidosis.

Alpha-Mannosidosis is a rare disease related to mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) with approximately 200 known cases worldwide. May 15th is MPS Awareness Day.
